New: You can attend my Guardian Masterclass on adding suspense on 15 November.

I was the first Director of the Crime Writers’ Association, the UK body for┬áprofessional crime authors, and responsible for the prestigious Daggers awards. I also regularly teach workshops and Chair events on writing. I’ve appeared at events such as the York Festival of Writing, the Get Writing conference, the Essex Book festival, the Plymouth book festival, the Belfast book festival, Crimefest, and more. I’ve also taught for the Arvon foundation, Spread the Word, Chalk the Sun, and Guardian Masterclasses. Contact me if you’re interested in booking a workshop or class.

I also run the UK’s first MA in Crime Writing, at City University in London. If you’re interesting in coming on this, the first-ever genre MA in the UK, do get in touch via the university.

  1. Thanks for highlighting the MA in Crime Writing – I have just had a look at the University site – something I have been considering for a very long time and might have just found the MA for me! :)
