The Fall

What would you do?

…if you could no longer trust anyone around you?

….if you had to choose between what’s easy and what’s right?

…if telling the truth meant you lost everything that mattered?

When there’s no one to trust….when you’ve lost everything…it’s time to get ready for

THE FALL

The Fall is the story of two women, Charlotte and Keisha, who come from very different backgrounds but live just streets apart in London. One night their lives collide in a devastating act of violence. They have to work together to rebuild their lives and find out  what really happened that night. Also on the case is DC Matthew Hegarty, the young ambitious detective who thinks he’s solved the open-and-shut case – only to be plagued by doubts, and thoughts of Charlotte. They will all discover that the truth lies somewhere between what each of them saw that night. The Fall takes us deep into these separate lives that become inextricably linked, and asks us….WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

One of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a long time. I really appreciated the windows into multiple perspectives on life — in Parts 1 and 2 made so easy through the rapid interchanging of voices — across classes and ethnicities. It seemed to me that lots of people met crushingly challenging circumstances and with some help managed to find their way through to growing as more self-aware and tolerant, even gracious, human beings. This story was a loving gift.

What a brilliant book;one of the very best crime novels I have read : humour;pathos; plausible and convincing in its account of life in contemporary London, and I particularly loved the authentic dialogue-complete with slang and lots of funny asides .
For what it’s worth I think the author should write a screenplay ; it would make a fantastic film.
